Charles William (Bill) Henderson is an internationally published, bestselling author, novelist and screenwriter who also writes under the pseudonym, Taylor MacHenry. He was born in Artesia, New Mexico on August 26, 1948, where he was raised and graduated high school there in 1966. A combat veteran, he spent more than two decades in the United States Marine Corps, serving in both the officer and enlisted ranks through three wars, Viet Nam, Beirut and the Gulf War, retiring in 1993. He holds degrees in Journalism, Photography and Animal Science, graduating from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York, and from Cameron University, Lawton, Oklahoma where he graduated with honors, Cum Laude. He is a life member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Terminal ImpactHenderson began writing professionally as a journalist and sportswriter before enlisting in the Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War. While in the Marine Corps he wrote for numerous Marine Corps and Defense Department publications, as well as many private enterprise newspapers and magazines.

His first book, Marine Sniper, an international bestseller, was first published in hardcover by Stein & Day Publishers, in 1986. The book rights were then acquired by the G. P. Putnam-Berkley Publishing Group, that later merged with Penguin USA. Marine Sniper, today considered a military classic, has remained in print since its first edition more than 30 years ago, selling millions of copies, in various editions and foreign languages. Today, Marine Sniper is published by Penguin-Random House, along with all of Henderson’s other books.

Henderson’s newest work is titled, Terminal Impact, a novel about Marine Scout-Snipers and Special Operators in Iraq in 2006, and leads off his Jack Valentine series of novels, published by Penguin-Random House. Terminal Impact will be a major hardcover release by Penguin-Random House, scheduled for publication in November 2016. Henderson is now writing, Los Pepés, the next installment in the Jack Valentine series.

Regarding his other works, Henderson’s award winning book, Goodnight Saigon, was named General Nonfiction Book of the Year for 2006 by the American Society of Journalists and Authors, awarding Goodnight Saigon their 2006 Outstanding Book Award.

Henderson’s International Bestsellers include Marine Sniper and its sequel, Silent Warrior, available in multiple editions, new media and audio books. Other popular titles he has written include Marshalling the Faithful, a nonfiction book about America’s first year in the Viet Nam War, and Henderson’s historical novel, Jungle Rules, about Marine lawyers serving in the III MAF legal office in Da Nang in 1968, and their colorful clientele.

Henderson has written three screenplays, Borderlands, Anna Petrovna, and The Ox-Bow Incident, now in various stages of development with producers. He is associated with several motion picture production companies, producers, directors and fellow screenwriters in Santa Fe and Los Angeles.

Henderson has also written for international news services, such as United Press International and Reuters, and national newspapers and magazines, such as LIFE magazine, and The New York Post. Today Henderson lives on his horse ranch outside Peyton, Colorado, located on the south slopes of the Palmer Divide, overlooking Colorado Springs, Colorado.
